Head Coach Harvey Doneski.

The Beavers celebrate a victory in the opening game of a doubleheader with Lowell. The Beavers rode the pitching of Rick Coyne in the opener, but had to settle for a split as Lowell took the nightcap.

Howie Nager trots back to first
after a foul ball. Nager was on first
after banging after an RBI single vs. MIT.

Paul Woishnis goes high to grab the throw from the outfield, as the Mass Maritime batter slides in safely with a two-bagger.

Post-game handshake, Babson and Framingham State.

Howie Nager plates a run under the watchful eyes of the man-in-blue, while looking back to check on Joe Cambi motoring into second on a two-base hit.

Paul Woishnis grabs a pop fly for the putout.

C Joe Cambi offers a hand to P Shawn Corr, after the hurler pitched his way out of a jam vs. Lowell.

George Salvitti offers a sandwich to Bob Gerardin.
Or, is it the other way around? What we know
for sure is that the action came between
 games of the Babson-Stonehill twinbill.

Joe Cambi hits the dirt, but is a close out trying to go from first to third on a Bobby Kelly single.

The Beaver bench. That's Coach Harvey
Doneski (17) and catcher Joe Cambi.

Coach Doneski unsuccessfully pleads his case in a dispute with the umpires. Doneski questioned the foul-ball call on a drive by Bobby Gorman, who banged a base-hit later in the at-bat. Action was part of the Beavers' 2-1 victory over Stonehill in the opening game of a  doubleheader. The Beavers combined the excellent hurling of Rick Renwick and Gorman's clutch-hitting (3 for 4, including the game-winning RBI in the seventh inning) to emerge victorious.

The Lowell baserunner makes it safely back to first on a pick-off attempt
by C Joe Cambi, as Bobby Kelly makes a long stretch to grab the throw. Kelly owns the only home run hit by Babson during the entire 1979 season.

3B Karl Uggerholt and SS Bobby Gorman ready for action.

Babson three-sport star and Hall of Fame member, George Salvitti, shares a moment with his greatest fan, his dad, Amelio. Mr. Sal was a fixture at every soccer, ice hockey, and baseball game his son played at Babson, as well as before that at Watertown High School. Mr. Sal and George represent all that is good about sports and we are proud to forever call them our own.
