Kosow To Appear In ESPN Series

Former Babson pitcher to make acting debut.

July 9, 2007

BABSON PARK, Mass. -
Babson College baseball alumnus Jason Kosow '04 will be appearing in ESPN's new original series "The Bronx Is Burning", which begins Monday, July 9, at 10 p.m. ET. Kosow, who will be playing the role of legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Jim "Catfish" Hunter, will appear in at least two of the series' eight episodes, which chronicle the New York summer of 1977.

Kosow became just the second Babson player to be ever drafted by a major league baseball team when he was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 2004 draft - just months after he pitched the Beavers to their first ever NEWMAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. Rick Renwick '79 was the first to be drafted when he was taken by the Cubs following his senior season, and Kosow's former teammate Teddy Dziuba '06 became the third player to be selected when the Mets chose him last summer.

In addition to leading Babson to unprecedented team success, Kosow broke numerous individual records in his four seasons on the mound for the Beavers. He is the program's all-time leader in career strikeouts (194) and saves (10) while also ranking in the top 10 in wins (12), innings (180.1), earned run average (2.70), complete games (12), and relief appearances (44). He also holds six single-season records, while his 1.64 ERA in 2003 was the second lowest in Babson history.

After an arm injury forced him to undergo surgery shortly after his first season in the Cubs organization, Kosow returned to form and now plays pro ball for the Nashua Pride in his native New Hampshire. It was there that the opportunity rose for him to audition for "The Bronx Is Burning".
